People sometimes ask me what MEYAME means.

To get straight to the point, the name was taken from the middle of my wife Megumi Someya's name, who works with me on design.

It sounds simple when written like this, but I put a lot of thought into getting to this point. At the time, I thought, "This is great!", but when I looked back at them after a while, I was embarrassed and broke out in a cold sweat. I think we all have times when we get so focused on something that we lose sight of what's going on around us, but what do you think?

These MEYAMEs in various patterns were given to us by Shohei Yoshida, the white 3D designer who designed the logo.

I vividly remember the moment I came up with the idea for "MEYAME."

When I wrote SOMEYAMEGUMI on paper, the "MEYAME" part jumped out at me, and it looked and sounded good, and had a nice rhythm. I instinctively knew, "This is it!"

There were a few important points to consider when deciding on the name:

① Something that originates from us.

② It should be easy to say since you will be saying it many times in the future ≒ it should have a good rhythm.

③ I don't know what language it is.

It met all of those criteria, and when I looked back at it after some time had passed, I didn't feel embarrassed or break out in a cold sweat, and my wife liked it too.

It's been six years since the fall/winter of 2018, seven if you include the preparation stage, and I've been writing and calling it MEYAME over and over again, but I never get tired of it and my attachment to it has only grown.
